To enable writing mode, you need to add keys. To do that, google and download file key_retail.bin. Then open this file with the Ally app, and writing mode will be activated. After that, you will be able to write to blank tags.
To import multiple files with Ally you need to tap and hold on the [+] button on the amiibo screen till the import menu appears. Then select Import from Files, and on the Files screen, select the [...] button. Then tap on the "Select" menu and select multiple files to import.
NTAG215 can be only written once. This is a hardware limitation of the tag. If you want to rewrite tags, then N2 or PowerTag should be used.
If you used PowerTag with a PowerSaves device before, most likely, PowerTag will have a different serial number, and it needs to be reset. In that case, Ally will show you the following error message: "Found PowerTag with bad serial. Please reset it with PowerSaves adapter."
To do that, you need to write the following bin file to PowerTag using the PowerSaves device, and then your tag will be reset and ready to be used with Ally.

Tap and hold on the Amiibo slot from the N2 screen to open quick actions. If the writing mode is enabled, there will be an extra action in the quick actions menu to Randomize Amiibo serial. This function is added if you want to use Amiibo as many times as you want without a need to wait till another day in games like Zelda – Breath of the Wild. The good thing is the actual Amiibo data dump won't be affected, and only an N2 copy of the Amiibo will have a different serial number. So your source data will remain safe and legit.
There is a toggle in Settings that turns write counters on or off.
If you need to reset the write counter for one amiibo, tap and hold on to that amiibo to bring the menu. Select Update number of writes menu and put 0 in the prompt.
To reset all write counters you need to tap on Reset button in the app settings.
To delete the entire collection you need to go to phone Settings -> Your Apple ID -> iCloud -> Manage Storage -> Ally. And press the Delete Data button there.
Ally can work on any iPhone with NFC starting from iPhone 7.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus has explicitly a very weak NFC chip. Try to hold iPhone 7 or 7 Plus for a bit longer next to the tag, and also, please remove the cover if you have one. We noticed that removing the cover significantly increases NFC power on iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
Ally is built with privacy in mind. That means that no data is sent to developers or any other third party. Ally does not send any amiibo data anywhere. Ally does not have any tracking tools in the app. All your amiibo data is stored privately under your iCloud account, and only you have access to it.
A lot of people are asking how they can support Ally development. If you want to do that, you can subscribe to any of our monthly donation subscriptions. We appreciate your help a lot.
